The important of interpretation equipment in international events

May 29, 2020

With the growing trend of integration in Vietnam, more and more organizations and have been cooperating with businesses and governments around the world. Events and meetings between different countries are held regularly and increasing in quantity and quality.

To meet that demand, the Interpretation Equipment is increasingly being ordered to ensure professionalism and accurate information in events and seminars. AV Vietnam is also aware of this trend and continually invests in facilities of Interpretation Equipment to ensure it meets the needs of all customers.

Interpretation Equipment

Interpretation Equipment pertains to any of the A/V equipment facilitating the services of an interpreter. The bulk of interpreting equipment is used by simultaneous interpreters as they – and their clients – rely on the use of headphones and microphones to relay information in real time. However, there are also cases where some manner of equipment is necessary for consecutive interpreting services.

  1. Interpretation Booth (Soundproof): Interpreters during work time always need a maximum concentration, so they need to sit in the soundproof booth to make sure there are no sounds that affect their work. Interpretation Booth is an airtight compartment with transparent glass doors for interpreters external viewing. Besides devices such as controllers and microphones, Booth is usually sufficient for 02 interpreters.
  2. Interpreter Console: a system connected to microphones and headsets with the purpose of transmitting signals between speakers and interpreters. It also helps translators to customize paramters such as channel adjustment, volumes and other modes.
  3. Microphones: Microphones allow you to speak to interpreters, and for them to speak to you during simultaneous interpretation. They also allow your interpreter to speak and be heard by a group of people (your audience) in their native language. There should be at least one microphone provided per interpreter and per speaker.
  4. Receiver/Emitters: Audience receivers allow the person listening to the translation to “dial in” to a pre-assigned, language-specific frequency. Often these are clipped to the waistline or a comfortable area of the clothing, but receivers can also be held in the hand if preferred. They receive FM or infrared signals, depending on the equipment.
  5. Infrared: Prior to the digital era, FM emitters/receivers were the norms. While still in use depending on venues and preferences, infrared emitters/receivers are the preferred mode of emitting/receiving sound, particularly if privacy or confidentiality is a priority. That being said, they don’t work as well outdoors due to electromagnetic interference from the sun. They essentially look like a sound speaker.
